Meet our teachers

Cassie

Hello, my name is Cassie, and I am the owner of Evergreen Learning Center. Working in the childcare industry has always been my passion and something that I absolutely love doing. Straight out of high school I became a preschool teacher and continued that path for the next ten years followed by two and a half years as a nanny. In 2021 I decided to take the next step in my journey and open my own center. I am so excited for this new venture and will strive to be the best that I can be. Thank you all so much for joining our Evergreen family and entrusting my staff and I to care for your babies every day.

Marie

HI, my name is Marie and I have CDA in Early Childhood education. I have been working with kids since I was 23 years old, and I love it! Over the last few years, I have worked primarily with Preschool and School-aged children, but love kids of all ages. I am an enthusiastic and responsible person and look forward to meeting you and your kids.

Betsy

Welcome Amazing Infant Families! My name is Betsy, I’m a local mom of a 13-year son and a 10-year-old daughter.  I believe strong communities are built from the ground up and am so happy to see that those connections are already happening in our classroom.  I’ll be working diligently every day to meet the physical, social, and emotional needs of your children.  I especially enjoy working with infants as so many milestones happen within the first year.  We’ll be practicing basic sign language, reading lots of books, dancing to jazz, playing with age-appropriate toys to build fine motor skills, making friends, and having fun!

Hello ELC families, my name is Kayia. I am a floater/cook here at Evergreen, mainly taking care of snacks and filling in where I’m needed. Previously before coming here, I was the lunchroom supervisor at St. Francis for 3 years. Outside of the school, I’m an outdoor enthusiast who tries to concur the WA trails in my free time. I love working around kids and seeing their smiles every day. I’m looking forward to taking care of your kiddos!

The kids sure keep me busy, but I feel so fortunate to care for them. I get to see them grow and become their own little person every day. Thanking you in advance for your trust in caring for your babies.

Emma

Hello all, my name is Emma! My journey working with children began in 2016, volunteering with a nonprofit organization that provides daycare and counseling for at-risk youth. This experience changed my life and because of it, I wanted to continue working with children of all ages and backgrounds. I’m a recent graduate of Seattle University with a double major in humanities and criminal justice-forensic psychology. My goal is to one day work in child mental health and help the youth in our society who are often overlooked. I have worked with children as young as two and as old as fourteen. I’ve worked in after-school programs, I’ve been a summer camp counselor, and I’ve worked in private and public schools as both a teacher’s assistant and tutor. My favorite aspect of working with children is watching them grow mentally and aiding them with various problem-solving and coping skills. I look forward to providing and facilitating an inclusive, fun environment for your children here at E.L.C.!

Mara

Hello! My name is Mara Young.

A little about me…I was born in the PNW and grew up in Olympia, WA. I’ve lived in West Seattle for the last 14 years, and have loved being a part of this community, it is my home. I was a florist for 4 ½ years before I began my journey working with children as a Paraprofessional Instructional Assistant with Seattle Public Schools for 8 years. I worked with children in preschool up to 5th grade, and it was a joy being with students from so many grade levels. I’m excited for this new chapter working with kiddos in their early years now with ELC! It has been incredible to see how much they learn and grow so quickly, and I’m looking forward to witnessing more of this magic and learning from them and my team. Things I love most in this world…making memories with family & friends, being with animals and nature, tending to my plants, working in the garden, roaming a nursery with a yummy coffee, watching movies and shows, reading fiction books, writing, quiet walks, traveling, and taking care of my home. I am so grateful to be joining the ELC Community! Thank you! 😊

Elizabeth

Allow me to introduce myself; my name is Elizabeth and I’m 28 years old. I understand how crucial it is to feel comfortable with those who work closely with your child. With over 15 years of experience in childcare, my journey began at the age of 13 as a babysitter, gradually transitioning into formal roles, including working with preschool-aged children and later, engaging in humanitarian activities abroad.

My adventure has taken me across various continents, from working with the deaf community in Haiti and the Dominican Republic to supporting disabled individuals in the Middle East. Throughout my experiences, I’ve had the privilege of working with children aged 3 to 10, as well as those with autism, gaining valuable insights into behavior management and fostering positive interactions.

I applied for this position out of a deep passion for working with children and a desire for a more tranquil professional environment. It is with genuine enthusiasm that I look forward to the opportunity to engage with and care for your children in the T2 classroom, and I am eager to embark on this journey with you.

Jennifer

Greetings and salutations Evergreen families, my name is Jennifer Taylor, but I prefer to be called Miss J. I was raised in different parts of Jersey. So yes, I am NY Giants fan. As of last year, I moved back to Seattle; this time living 10 years in New Orleans, LA where I obtained my CDA in Early Childhood and Preschool. I have been working with children on and off since the age of 13; so over 20 years. I have an AAS in Social Work/Human Services and minored in Chemical Dependency. I plan to further my education soon under the same major but minoring in childhood education. I have been working with children from infancy to 19 years of age.

In my spare time, I love to create and write my own children’s stories. I enjoy reading and adding personality to my characters as I read. I have two stories that I have finished writing. I just need to find an illustrator and publisher to get my stories out there on those shelves.

I have been happily married for 5 years coming up in October and am the proud fur mom of a male. Pomeranian-German Shepherd mix. One day one of my dreams will come true where I will become a real mom. Until then, from 8-5 I will take care of your children as if they were my own. I look forward to working with you all.

Peace and blessings 💜

Miss J
